As a writer, actor, and human rights advocate, Vanessa Velasquez is most interested in developing a unique angle into human realities and creating a bridge between the work of humanitarian efforts and storytelling. She believes examining differing perspectives reveals greater truths about human identity and her interest in understanding those perspectives continues to challenge and motivate her. Vanessa's studies of Literature, Theatre and Human Rights have challenged the conventions of race and gender roles taught at an early age, and she believes it is those values instilled in an individual that affect their adult psyche. Her personal research focuses on women's studies, human rights, and global advocacy in order to bring awareness of issues regarding these topics through the mediums of writing, film, and theatre. Vanessa has found the greatest opportunities to connect with humanity through storytelling and hopes to connect with others in return through her work.
